Smoke-free/Vape-free Policy

Updated April 12, 2024

Effective Tuesday, September 1, 2020, for the Montclair campus and December 1, 2022 for the Bloomfield campus, use of all tobacco products are prohibited on-campus.

The Montclair State University Tobacco-Free Policy now applies to both the Montclair and Bloomfield campuses and their buildings.

Tobacco use can be extremely detrimental to your health, and can lead to serious long-term health problems like emphysema, heart disease and lung cancer. But there's good news! Quitting tobacco at a young age can go a long way toward avoiding these outcomes - and there's help so that you don't have to go it alone.

Remember: the sooner you quit, the better. And if you don't smoke - don't start.
