Hurricane Sandy and Weather Related Information

Dear Bloomfield College Community,

I am happy to report that all college facilities and grounds are ready for the reopening on Monday, November 5. Classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. and all offices will open at 8:30 a.m. All nursing students’ clinical sessions are cancelled for Monday, November 5. Students are advised to check Blackboard for any academic information from their instructors and/or contact their instructors by e-mail if you have specific academic class-related questions.

This information is provided by the NJ Regional Operations & Intelligence Center (NJ ROIC) as “possible” locations of fuel, food, hotel and pharmacies in specific geographic locations.  This information is listed as follows:

Dear Bloomfield College Community,

Please know that the Emergency Response Team and the Officers of the College have been meeting regularly to address all the issues surrounding Hurricane Sandy. This message serves as a general update on where the College is to date.

Status of Closing

As of today, Thursday, November, 1, 2012, the College remains closed until Monday, November 5, 2012.
A final determination on re-opening details will be available on Sunday, November 4, 2012. Information will be posted on the Bloomfield College Website and will be sent out via e-mail and e2Campus emergency text messaging.

Status of Campus Grounds

O’Boyle Landscapers were on campus for most of the day on Wednesday and cleared all of the debris. The campus grounds look great. A couple of large trees that were down during the storm remain on campus and will be removed immediately.
All the residential theme houses were inspected and the conditions are fine. There was some damage to 21 Austin from a fallen tree. Efforts are underway to handle repairs as soon as possible.  All other campus facilities are in good condition.  No basements were flooded.

Distribution of Paycheck distribution

Paper paychecks will be distributed by Security over the next few days. Employees must bring proper identification when picking up paychecks.  Security is located in the Lower Level of 225 Liberty.

Counseling Services Offered to Community

A general e-mail has been sent to the College Community about counseling services available to students and employees with some other general information. Please check this Counseling e-mail for additional details about these services.
Resident Students: Gourmet Dining Services and Shuttle Services

The Schweitzer Cafeteria is now open on a weekend schedule (Brunch and Dinner) until Sunday November 4th to service residents on campus and from the University Center.

Decamp shuttle service is operating on a weekend schedule until Sunday, November 4, 2012.
