Bloomfield College & Montclair Art Museum present a step back in time

Remember life before cell phones? Many young people today have never known the feeling of stepping inside a phone booth, the overhead light miraculously coming on the moment the door was closed, and trying to root around in purse or pockets for the correct change. They’ve never known the hesitancy of passing a booth and wondering if they should pick up the ringing phone. They’ve never tried to cram shopping bags and small children into the booth made for only one person.

March Events Calendar

Each month, the Center for Student Leadership and Engagement publishes a calendar full of events and activities for Bloomfield College students. From discussion groups and information fairs to Student Goverment Meetings and even trips off campus, the CSLE Event Calendar provides students with tons of ways get involved!

Black History Month comes to a close but does not end

“How many of you in this room read the story Little Black Sambo in grammar school?” asked Assemblyman William Payne as he addressed the Black History Month closing ceremony audience. As a child in a majority White school, Payne explained that Little Black Sambo, the story of a young African boy growing up in the jungle was juxtaposed with Dick and Jane, the story of two White children living in the suburbs with their parents and dog.

Bloomfield College opens path for graduate work

Among the 3000-plus colleges and universities nationwide, 158 are funded for the Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program funded through the federal TRIO program. The McNair program exists to support students beyond their baccalaureate to achieve a doctoral degree. The emphasis is placed on first generation and underrepresented students who might not have the opportunity to go beyond a bachelor’s degree.
