Testing Services

Along with a variety of exams for Bloomfield College students, non-Bloomfield college students and the general public, the Test Center also offers distance-learning proctoring for organizations or institutions that require testing in a proctored environment. Placement Tests (Bloomfield College students only)

Placement tests are used to determine the skill levels of incoming students in English and Math. The placement test helps Bloomfield College place students in the correct courses, so that the student can best meet their academic goals. TEAS® Test

TEAS® Test

The ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS®) exam is required for admission to the Bloomfield College Nursing program as well as for admission to many other regional nursing programs. Bloomfield College students must take the exam in-person at an institution. Scores from online, remote proctored exams will not be accepted

How to register for the TEAS® Test

You must register online and pay a fee of $117 at least 48 hours before the date that you choose to take the test. A credit or bank card is required for payment. Please follow the instructions below to register and create an account.

  1. Go to the ATI registration web page
  2. Select “I am Preparing for or Taking the TEAS”
  3. Click “Register for TEAS”
  4. Select “In-Person”
  5. Search by School Name.
    Select the state: NJ
    and School: Bloomfield College
  6. Select the day and time you wish to take the test and then complete the registration form.

CLEP Test


The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exam is offered for both Bloomfield College and non-Bloomfield College students who wish to demonstrate their knowledge or professional experience in a particular subject and wish to turn that knowledge into college credits.

How to Register for CLEP

  1. Register to reserve your seat for a testing date at Bloomfield College. Space is limited, so register early! Fee: $25
  2. Register with the College Board to select your testing subject area. Fee: $95

Non-Bloomfield Students

All CLEP exams can be taken at the Bloomfield College Test Center. CLEP examinations are awarded for college credit. We recommend checking with with your institution’s advisor to see which CLEP exams are applicable, how credits will be awarded, and to learn what your institution’s CLEP policy is.

Bloomfield College Students

Because not all college-level learning takes place in the classroom, Bloomfield College accepts credit through the College Level Examination Program (CLEP).

To register for CLEP exams, Bloomfield College students must have:

  • Completed a minimum of one semester at the College before taking a CLEP exam
  • Completed any necessary foundation courses
  • Completed the prerequisite(s) for the course for which they wish to take the CLEP exam
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher

Examination credit is applicable to the fulfillment of the major and General Education requirements, subject to the approval of the advisor for that major.

CLEP exams cannot be taken as a repeat of a course already taken at any institution.

A maximum of 16 course units may be earned through CLEP exams (including College Board Placement examinations). Contact your advisor to find out if you qualify. CLEP credits accepted in transfer are subject to evaluation criteria established by Bloomfield College.

DSST Test

The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests exam is offered for both Bloomfield College and non-Bloomfield College students who wish to demonstrate their knowledge or professional experience in a particular subject and wish to turn that knowledge into college credits. Students can take the DSST exam to receive college credits in lieu of taking the class.

Spaces are limited, so register early!

Please note that Bloomfield College does not offer the Principles of Public Speaking Examination.

General Public: All DSST exams can be taken at the Bloomfield College Test Center except for the Public Speaking exam. DSST examinations are awarded for college credit. We recommend checking with with your institution’s advisor to see which DSST exams are applicable, how credits will be awarded, and to learn what your institution’s DSST policy is.

Bloomfield College Students: Examination credit is applicable to the fulfillment of the major and General Education requirements, subject to the approval of the major advisor. DSST cannot be taken as a repeat of a course already taken at any institution. DSST credits accepted in transfer are subject to evaluation criteria established by Bloomfield College. Successfully completed DSST exams will be recorded on the student’s transcript as transfer credits and will not be used in calculating the grade point average.

Distance Learning Proctoring

Distance Learning Proctoring

For off-campus organizations or institutions that require testing in a proctored environment, we offer distance learning proctoring here at Bloomfield College.

Test Format and Environment

We can proctor both paper & pencil exams and computerized exams. Exams take place in a testing room with other examinees.

The testing candidate should advise their organization or institution that they would like to test at Bloomfield College before filling out a form and scheduling a date. If your organization/institution requires forms for us to fill out, please let us know.

Proctored Testing Fees

  • The non-refundable testing fee is $35 for up to 3 hours, and $10/hour after that.
    Candidates and/or their organization/institution are responsible for any fees associated with the purchase of test documents or postage costs to return completed tests.
  • The reschedule fee is $15, unless it is a documented emergency.

Questions about the CLEP

How much does it cost to register for CLEP?

What do I need to bring with me on the day of the exam?
Make sure that you have first registered with Bloomfield College through this site. You need to bring your CLEP ticket voucher, which is provided by CLEP after you make the payment through the CLEP website (make sure the exam you intend on taking is listed correctly on your voucher.) In addition you will need to bring a valid government issued photo ID, such as a Driver’s License or Passport. Information regarding acceptable forms of ID can be found on CLEP’s website.

When is CLEP offered?

When are exam dates posted?
The monthly exam schedule is posted two weeks prior to the start of the month.

How will I receive my results?
A score report is provided upon completion.
Official Transcript: Student must indicate the institution of their choice at the time of subject selection on the College Board website. (This initial transcript is free, but institution must be indicated when signing up on the CLEP site). Official transcripts are sent directly from CLEP to the student’s institution within 1 – 2 weeks. Official transcripts for composition exams are sent within 3 – 4 weeks as essays have to be scored by CLEP.

I go to a different school, can I take my exam at Bloomfield? How does my school get my score?
Yes, you can take your exam here. Once finished, on the results screen with your score, there will be a send transcript button. It will prompt you to purchase a transfer credit. Once purchased, return to the results screen and hit send transcript again to use the credit and send your score to your school.

How will I receive my results?
Official transcripts are sent within 1 – 2 weeks of test completion. Non-BC students have to pay for the transcript, and must order through ATI website or by calling ATI.
Transcripts from Bloomfield College students are sent to the nursing department within 48 hours.
