BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – To help further its continued effort to remain at the forefront of cutting edge education, Bloomfield College will receive $2.5 million in capital project grants from the State of New Jersey, President Richard Levao announced today.

Bloomfield College joins in mourning the passing of Joan Bildner, one of New Jersey most prominent citizens.

Celebrating their years of achievements at Bloomfield College, students deserving of honors status gathered for the Baccalaureate service the day before Commencement.

The Kellman program, a nine-month long course in the humanities for adults who are thinking about going to college, wrapped up its twelfth year.

The graduating nurses in the class of 2013 received their pins the day before commencement to signify their entry into the honorable service of their chosen profession.

Thirty BSN candidates and three of the five RN to BSN candidates attended the ceremony in which each senior was pinned by the chair of the Frances M. McLaughlin Division of Nursing, Dr. Neddie Serra.

During the spring of 2013, five Division of Education Honors students: Regina Cora, Trudy Ann Davey, Cecilia Olivera, Nicole Paparella and Shama Perveen participated in a tutoring and mentoring project at the Fairview Elementary School in Bloomfield.  Honors students worked in classrooms alongside the following experienced mentor teachers: Abby DeNicolas, Lauren Marek, Lisa Maron, Joanne Roshon

Eileen Polazzi, assistant vice president for academic services and registrar and Alice Ann Sayler, PhD, professor of chemistry and computer information systems are retiring from the college at the end of the spring term.

Construction has begun on a new 80,434 square foot, four story residence hall at the corner of Broad and Franklin Streets in Bloomfield Township. The expansion project will create sustainable space with dormitories and classrooms plus approximately 7,600 square feet of office/commercial/retail options at street level.

It was THE event of the year with over 240 people attending from public servants to alumni, friends, administration, faculty and staff. On April 20, 2013, everyone converged on The Bethwood in Totowa, NJ to drink, dine, dance, enjoy a glamorous tricky tray, and honor three people who have made an impact on the Bloomfield College Community.

Bloomfield College has four honors societies on campus; Alpha Chi, which is the national college honor scholarship society; Delta Mu Delta, which is for business majors; Kappa Delta Pi for education majors; and Psi Chi, which is the international psychology honor society. The honors societies induction ceremonies took place in the college library on Sunday, April 21, 2013.
