PaperCut

When I log into a lab computer, the computer tells me my account doesn't exist. Why can't I print?
If you are a Faculty, Adjunct or currently registered student, and do not see the PaperCut Client pop-up when you log in, or if you try to log into PaperCut and it tells you that your account doesn’t exist, please visit the IT Helpdesk to have a PaperCut account created for you. Please note: You will need to show a valid Bloomfield College ID and have your enrollment status verified before a print account can be created.

I see a dollar amount displayed in the PaperCut client. Is this a balance I owe?
No, this amount is a printing allocation. The number of pages you have available is represented in dollars and cents.

How do I figure out the total number of pages I have available from the dollar amount?
Divide the dollar amount by 0.05. For example, $27.50 divided by 0.05 equals 550 pages.

Do I still receive my 550 page semester allocation?
Yes. The PaperCut client should show a starting balance of $27.50.

What happens if/when I run out of my page allocation?
You can now buy additional “pages” directly from within the PaperCut client.

Can I still buy additional pages at the Bursar's office?
No, however you can buy additional allocations using your BC Pass card from within the PaperCut client.

How do I buy additional page allocation with the PaperCut client?
You will need to register your BCPass card and add value to your BCBucks account. Once that is done, simply click the “details” link in the PaperCut client window. When prompted to log in, use the same credentials you used to log into the computer. Once you are logged in, click the “Add Credit” link. One the next screen, enter your 16-digit BCPass card number and select the amount you would like to purchase. Page allocations can be purchased in $2, $5 & $10 amounts (40, 100 & 200 pages respectively).

If I don’t use all of my page allocation (initial amount or additionally purchased) by the end of the semester, can that be refunded?
No, there are no refunds on any page allocations.

Can I share my paper allocation with another student?
No.

I sent a print job to the printer but nothing came out or it printed with errors (splotches, streaks, printer ate my paper in a paper jam, etc…), and PaperCut still charged me for the pages. Can I get a refund for the missing pages?
No. However, 50 pages of your 550-page semester allocation are extra pages provided as a “buffer” to make up for lost or missing print jobs. Also, before you send print jobs to the printers, make sure that the target printers are online and have a sufficient supply of paper for your print job. The majority of missing print jobs are simply stuck in the print buffer because the printer in question is either out of paper or offline.

How many copies can I print in a single print job?
The copy limit for any single print job is 3. Any print jobs requiring more than 3 copies will need to be printed in groups of 3 copies with a wait period of 2 minutes between jobs (due to duplicate blocking feature).

I tried to print something, but nothing came out. When I tried again, I received a pop-up telling me that my print job was blocked because it was a duplicate print job. How long before I can try to print the same job again?
Duplicate print jobs are blocked for a period of 2 minutes.

Is there a page limit to a single print job?
Yes, each print job has 25 page limit. If you need to print a larger job, break it up into smaller print jobs. For example, a 50-page print job should be printed as follows:

  • Print pages 1 through 25
  • Print pages 26 through 50

Can I print documents that are not standard letter size?
No. Since the printers are stocked only with standard letter-sized paper, all other paper sizes are restricted.

Can I print from my laptop or other mobile device?
No. The feature is not implemented.

I am a Bloomfield College Alumni or Town Resident, why can't I print?
Printing is restricted to currently enrolled Bloomfield College students, and faculty only.
