About the Student Health Center

The Health Services Office’s goal is to nurture and maintain optimum health for all enrolled students and employees at Bloomfield College. We encourage you to become an active participant in your care and treatment. We can provide you with information that will empower you to make educated and intelligent decisions regarding your health.

All services provided by the Health Services Office are confidential and medical records are strictly confidential and are not part of the academic record. It should be noted that there are limited confidentiality exceptions required by law, such as certain communicable diseases, or situation which threaten your own safety or safety of others, and age of consent. No information will be released without the written permission of the student.

There are no charges for professional services provided to the Student Body by the Registered Nurse or Medical Doctor. However, Hepatitis B, Tetanus and Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccines are given for a fee. Please call our office for current vaccination prices.

The Health Services Office provides the following services to our students:

  • First Aid
  • Assessment and treatment of common health problems and injuries
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Strep throat screening
  • TB screening (Mantoux testing)
  • Blood Pressure screening
  • Weight monitoring
  • Health Education and counseling
  • Wellness counseling
  • Referrals to local medical and dental specialists
  • Referrals to campus and community resources
  • Resources on a variety of health topics
  • Self care items
  • MMR and Hepatitis B vaccines
  • Flu shots
  • Tetanus shots
  • HIV Testing, free and confidential from the STOP Program
  • STD referrals
  • Periodic HIV/STD Testing
  • Periodic PAP Smear Testing

Flu Shots

Each fall, the Health Services Office provides Flu shots for a fee at an on-campus clinic by an outside agency. Please watch this website and emails for details.

TB Screening (Mantoux Testing)

It is recommended that all students have at least one TB test before entering the college.

  • Residential students are required to have the screening prior to moving into residence.
  • Nursing majors must have the screening yearly.
  • The test is given as needed everyday except Thursdays during posted hours. There is a $10 fee.
  • All positive readings will be referred for chest x-rays & medical follow-up.
