The college's Center for Student Leadership and Engagement (CSLE) is enthused to present our Portrait of Excellence initiative. The Portraits of Excellence initiative, shares the stories that our students have written during their time here at Bloomfield College. Each student's 'Portrait' highlights their stories of achievements, including academic, leadership, employment and internships, community service and volunteerism. Our Portraits of Excellence students, not just survive, they strive through their college experience.
Recognition is awarded on the basis of distinguished service/volunteerism, major involvement in leadership engagement efforts and activities, distinguished intellectual activity; or direct engagement in activities reflective of the College's Mission: "to prepare students to attain academic, personal and professional excellence in a multicultural and global society."
Our Portrait of Excellence students are profiled in the Deacon's Den (Portraits alternates the past 12 recipients every 4 years - effective Spring 2020), located in the Student Center at Talbott Hall, with a Portrait highlighting their story. In addition, recognized students are entered as finalists for recognition as the Distinguished Student of the Year, at the Student Affairs' Annual Awards Ceremony.
Each semester, the selection of three featured students will be based on the review of Nomination Forms from faculty, administration, staff, or representatives of organizations affiliated with a nominee's distinguished service/accomplishments.
Representatives of the aforementioned constituent groups may nominate any current full or part-time matriculating student at the College. Nominations are accepted and reviewed by the Student Affairs Deans' Office, between the 5th and the 25th day of January and May of each year. Profiles of the students featured each semester will also be published on the College's Website by the 1st of September each academic year and then updated with current recipients in March and by the 5th of the month.
