What does the graduating student need to do in order to participate in Commencement?

Graduating students should log on to their MyBloomfield Portal account for detailed instructions.

How does the graduating student order regalia (cap and gown)?

Academic regalia (cap and gown) is required and the student must order online by Wednesday, April 3, 2019 through their MyBloomfield Portal account (see above). Regalia will be available for pick up at the Grad Fair on Monday, April 29, 2019.

How many guests can each graduating student invite to Commencement?  Are admission tickets required?

Each graduating student will recieve guest admission wristbands.  Guest admission wristband allocation is basd on the actual number of students participating in the ceremony and capacity of the venue.  The number of wristbands will be announced soon. While we would like to issue an unlimited number of wristbands for friends and relatives, we must accomodate some guests for all our students. Any person occupying a seat must wear and admission wristband.  Admission wristbands will not be required for children under 2 years of age, but the child must sit on the lap of their parent or guardian. Please note that strollers and carriers are not allowed under the Commencement tent for safety purposes.  Balloons and view-obstructing signs are also not allowed. Lost or stolen wristbands will not be replaced.

Overflow Space and Additional Viewing Options: Guests without an admission wristband are welcome to view the live webcast of the ceremony in the the Robert V. Fan Fossan Theater. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Guest seating will begin at 8:30 a.m. Balloons, view-obstructing signs/banners, and food/drinks are not permitted. Admission will be capped when we reach maximum capacity for the space.

Are special accommodations available for guests in wheelchairs?

Reserved seating for guests in wheelchairs will be available under the main tent.  Validated admission wristbands are required. Due to space limitations, the reserved seating area is restricted to the guest in the wheelchair and one accompanying guest. Additional members of the graduating student’s party should sit in the general seating area. Graduating students requiring seating for guests in wheelchairs must complete the Request for Wheelchair Seating form which must be submitted by Wednesday, April 3, 2019.  Please note that any guest requesting wheelchair seating must arrive in a wheelchair in order to be admitted to reserved seating as a chair will not be provided.
