What does the graduating student need to do in order to participate in Commencement?
Master's Degree Students: For those students completing a program in August, they may participate in Commencement the subsequent May. They should continue to check their Bloomfield College email account for the 9 months following completion of the program in order to be informed of all Commencement-related information.
How does the graduating student order regalia (cap and gown)?
Academic regalia (cap and gown) is required and the student must order online by Friday, March 27, 2020 through their MyBloomfield Portal account (see above). Regalia will be available for pick up at the Grad Fair on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.
How many guests can each graduating student invite to Commencement? Are admission tickets required?
Each graduating student who is on the official graduation list and is attending Commencement will receive six (6) tickets. The graduating student does not need a ticket. Lost or stolen tickets will not be replaced, and no additional tickets will be available. Ticket allocation is based on the actual number of students participating in the ceremony and capacity of the venue. While we would like to issue an unlimited number of tickets for your friends and relatives, we must accommodate some guests for all of our students. Guests must be in possession of their tickets the morning of Commencement. Guests without handstamps will not be admitted. The college does not sell tickets to Commencement.
Are special accommodations available for guests in wheelchairs?

When and where is the Commencement ceremony?
The ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. on the Newark Symphony Hall
When should I arrive for the Commencement ceremony?
Guest seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 8:30 a.m for those who exchanged the admission ticket for a hand-stamp.
What is the length of the Commencement ceremony?
Approximately two (2) hours.
Where can I park?
Will I be able to purchase ceremony photos?
Island Photography has been hired to capture this special moment. Please refrain from taking photographs during the ceremony from anywhere other than your seat in order to avoid obstructing the view of others. Each graduate will be professionally photographed before receiving their degree and while they are receiving their degree on stage. Graduates will receive proofs via email and regular mail from Island Photography. The graduate can also receive a direct link to the photos by registering through the Island Photography website at http://orders.islandphoto.com/apps/registergraduates.aspx. The graduate may register several email addresses to allow all family and friends to receive a direct link to the photos. Images are posted within 72 hours of the ceremony. All inquiries should be made to Island Photography at 800-869-0908. Purchase is optional.
Commencement events will also be recorded. The Bloomfield College Media Center (Library, lower level) will produce DVDs of the Nurses’ Pinning, Baccalaureate, and Commencement. These may be purchased one week after graduation for $7.00 per event. Graduates and their families can simply go to the Media Center with payment and pick up a DVD. How does a graduating student obtain their diploma?
Graduating students can pick-up diplomas at the Registrar's Office (229 Liberty Street) starting Tuesday, May 26, 2020 or if the graduating student would like their diploma mailed, they should contact the Registrar's Office at 973-748-9000, ext. 1221.
