Fostering Student Success

In keeping with “Where Opportunity Meets Innovation: A Student-Centered Vision for New Jersey Higher Education” and the charge to build support systems necessary to ensure students thrive in college and get across the graduation stage. Bloomfield College’s goal for its Fostering Student Success Program is to strengthen its delivery of student support services to increase the academic success, retention rates, and graduation rates of Bloomfield College students. Our multi-intervention approach will include intrusive academic and financial advising, tutoring, career exploration, and professional development, gap funding, and programs for family members.

Program Eligibility Requirements
  • A full-time undergraduate student at Bloomfield College and enrolled in 3 - 5 course units per semester
  • A NJ resident and live in one of the following counties: Cumberland, Passaic, Atlantic, Salem, Camden, Ocean, Hudson, Gloucester, and Essex
  • Self-identify as Black/African-American, Hispanic or Latinx, Pacific Islander, or American Indian/Alaska Natives
  • Eligible for a Federal Pell Grant
  • Demonstrate a need for academic support
  • Can not be enrolled in CHAMPS, TRIO, McNair, or EOF Programs
Program Participation Requirements
  • Meet with the Program Director bi-monthly
  • Attend two workshops per month on self-discovery, college readiness, and career exploration
  • Participate in an annual two-day conference for students and family members
  • Agree to participate in activities and support services referred to by the Program Director.
  • Monitor grades and communicate with professors regularly
  • Weekly Tutoring Sessions
  • Virtual job shadowing
