Town Gown Relationship Provides Free Haircuts to Graduating College Students

Up to 30 Bloomfield College ‘Class of 2023’ seniors will receive free haircuts the week of graduation. Sponsored by the Bloomfield College Alumni Association (BCAA) in collaboration with Kolby’s Place Styling Salon at 595 Bloomfield Ave., Bloomfield, New Jersey, the haircuts require pre-registration and will be scheduled on May 17-18, 2023.

Interested graduating Bloomfield College students should call or text BCAA Vice President Gage Daye at 862-704-1050 to schedule their haircut appointment.

“Kolby’s Place is a local salon that has been servicing the Bloomfield community for more than 20 years,” said Daye. “Our athletes are known to be patrons, and through this long-time relationship, Kolby’s has generously offered to provide free haircuts to a number of graduating seniors to help them prepare for their big day. We thank Kolby’s for working with us in this capacity.”

According to Daye, this is the second year that the local salon has offered to provide free haircuts to up to 30 students. The positive reception to last year’s generous offer spurred the salon to once again donate the haircuts to Bloomfield College upcoming grads.

“The BCAA executive board is always looking for ways to support our students during their higher education journeys, and graduation time is no different,” said Daye. “In addition to arranging for free haircuts, we provide laundry cards, caps and gowns, and more during this important milestone in a college student’s life. And our support will continue well past graduation once they are alumni. We will keep that support coming as they journey into the world of work.”

Bloomfield College will celebrate its milestone 150th commencement outdoors rain or shine on Saturday, May 20, 2023 on the College Quadrangle. Tickets are required.
