NiCori Studios & Productions Presents Into the Woods at Bloomfield College

NiCori Studios & Productions’ Teen Performance Ensemble will perform in Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” on Friday, August 4, 2017, at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, August 6, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Westminster Arts Center at Bloomfield College.

The Tony Award-winning book by James Lapine and score are both enchanting and touching. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, “Into the Woods” intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault fairy tales, and explores the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests. The story follows a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk.

Founding Artistic Director of NiCori Studios & Productions and three-time Theater Education Tony Award Nominee, Corinna Sowers Adler, directs the production with musical direction by Corey Wachala. “Into The Woods” is stage managed by Jenna Rafferty and assistant stage managed by Jesse Doorman.

Sowers Adler is also the Artist in Residence at the Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center. She has directed and cast over 500 productions in her 20-year career as a theatre educator and has an extensive performance career as well.

The August show is the culmination of a five-week intensive musical theater camp for pre-professional teenagers ages 12-19.  The teens hail from Bloomfield, Hawthorn, Maplewood, Patterson, Newark, North Arlington, Nutley, and Montclair.
