Education
Linda Murray from the Morris School District will come to Bloomfield for two days the week of December 10 to conduct on-site interviews with our student teachers. The district is looking to increase diversity among the teaching faculty and want to consider Bloomfield Teacher Ed graduates to fill openings for the 2013 -2014 school year. Mary Porcelli, Coordinator of Student Teaching will work with Carol Ruiz and Anna Marie Tutiven of Career Services to prepare the students for this exciting opportunity.

Peggy O’Reilly, Associate Professor of Teacher Education and Kenneth Kunz, Instructor of Teacher Education will be Co-Presenting "Using Anchor Charts to Meet the Needs of Diverse Students" at the NJEA conference in November. Professor Kunz will also be representing our college by chairing the Literacy Research Association conference in San Diego at the end of November.

Dr. Roosevelt Weaver, adjunct lecturer in the Division of Education, was a guest speaker at the recent meeting of the Harvard Black Men's Forum held at Columbia University in New York. Dr. Weaver earned a certificate of advanced study and his doctorate from the Harvard School of Education.

Humanities
Nicole Franklin, Instructor of Communications, will be premiering the third chapter of her Little Brother educational film series at the Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival this month. Little
Brother: A Do Right Man was filmed in St. Petersburg, Florida. Also this month, her film Gershwin & Bess: A Dialogue with Anne Brown will be offered as the newest item for sale at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet in Oslo.

Professor of English Paul Genega published the chapbook A Stone for Nina with Three Mile Harbor Press, East Hampton, New York.

Assistant Professor of History Laura Warren Hill’s co-edited text The Business of Black Power was published this summer by the University of Rochester Press. She also presented a paper at the Black Power Conference at the Avery Institute of the University of Charleston in September. Students Michael Beeson and Euniqha Lott also presented original research at the conference.
