Bloomfield College has become the first school in the state of New Jersey to officially partner with ZeeMee, a new social media-based service designed to help prospective students showcase their stories.
“Bloomfield College has a proven track record of authentic, holistic review, and empowers all students to write their own stories,” said ZeeMee co-founder Adam Metcalf. “Their emphasis on valuing each individual applicant, seeing them as more than a mere test score, and their dedicated commitment to bolstering equity and access for all are perfectly aligned with ZeeMee’s mission to change the way students connect with life-changing opportunities by bringing their stories to life.”
Prospective students can utilize the service and create a unique profile page that can be added as a supplemental component to the applications for partnering institutions. Users can upload photos, short video essays and their personal social media pages to their profiles, giving admissions counselors the chance to see the unique aspects of an applicant.
College admissions counselors can also create profiles, allowing them to directly engage with students and helping to foster more personalized connections.
“Being able to view students’ video essays allows me a glimpse of their personality and of their passion for continuing their education,” said Assistant Director of Admission and Athletic Liaison Julia Del Bagno. “This addition to the application allows both the student and the counselor to have fun with the college application process, instead of it being the dreaded and stressful experience everyone believes it to be. Engaging with students on the social media level is important for this generation of applicants, and ZeeMee allows us to do that in a fun and creative way.”
Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Bloomfield offers numerous financial aid and scholarship options for accepted students, with 97% of the College’s student body receiving some form of institutional financial aid or scholarship. Prospective students can also visit campus and meet one-on-one with a certified admissions counselor to determine their status and have their standard $40 application fee waved as part of the selection process.
"Zeemee is all about access and helping students get seen by having their college applications come to life, so it was an easy choice to start a partnership,” said Director of Admission Nicole Cibelli. “ZeeMee allows us to see our students' creative spark through their page, and this will definitely help provide a sense of how they will fit into our community. It also gives students a chance to interact with our counselors, which will hopefully spark increased interest in Bloomfield College.
“As an institution, we are dedicated to ensuring our students have an environment in which they can discover their stories are worth telling. Partnering with ZeeMee allows us to showcase that belief to our prospective students, and helps them show us who they are.”
