WLIB-1190 AM, an urban contemporary gospel radio station based in New York City, announced Wade-O Radio Producer and Bloomfield College alumnus, Daniel “D.Royul” Cody, is a finalist in McDonald’s Gospelfest 2017.

The McDonald's Gospelfest is an annual gospel music festival, talent competition, and fundraiser in Newark, New Jersey. The event, inaugurated in 1983, is sponsored by McDonald's.

Cody ’09, along with several other up-and-coming gospel artists will be sharing the stage with gospel legends as they compete in different categories. Cody, who auditioned at the McDonald’s in Paterson, New Jersey, is nominated in the rap category.

The talented music artist studied Creative Arts and Technology (CAT) at Bloomfield College.

“Mr. Cody was a diligent, awe-inspiring student. I admired his focus and drive. He participated in the When East Meets West program in 2008,” said Yuichiro Nishizawa, M.F.A., Chair of the Creative Arts & Technology division at the College. “I had the pleasure of traveling to South Korea and working with him and other students on our joint project with Jeonju University. He composed the audio track. During the intense two-week production, I recall his leadership and cordiality.”

The alumnus already has two gospel albums to his name and is set to release his third album, Duality of Worship, on April 14, 2017.

Gospelfest will be held in Newark at the Prudential Center on Saturday, May 13, 2017. The event is sure to be heavily attended and begins at 4:00 p.m.

This year’s event features Donnie McClurkin, Erica Campbell, Hezekiah Walker, Israel Houghton, Bishop Paul Morton, Anthony Brown & Group Therapy, and Greater Allen AME Cathedral.

The McDonald’s Gospelfest is produced and directed by A. Curtis Farrow.

“I am so delighted to hear about this recognition for Mr. Cody,” said Nishizawa. “It’s time for the world to hear his voice!”
