Bloomfield College Announces New Degree in Human Resource Management

Bloomfield College now offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Human Resource Management (HRM).

A BBA degree is a professional degree program that is broader in scope for the business major. It prepares the student with a strong foundation in business fundamentals. Due to its broad scope and emphasis on practical application, the BBA degree is particularly appropriate for students who are interested in entering the job market immediately after graduation.

“I am thrilled to see the Human Resources program take its rightful place as a major here at Bloomfield College. Elevating Human Resources from a concentration to a major should help make our students even more employable and better prepared for the workforce,” said Dr. Tresmaine Grimes, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty. “Our students will benefit from new coursework as well as the real-world experiences of our stellar faculty.”

Unlike the previously offered concentration by the College, which only allowed for a few courses in the discipline, the BBA in Human Resource Management will allow students to get full exposure to the HR field. This will better prepare graduates of the program for direct entry into HR departments within companies large and small.

The program will provide students with a broad overview of organizational management with an emphasis on how to best harness energies to build a better functioning workforce.

“Graduates will be able to directly enter the workforce upon graduation with the BBA in HRM. That is the beauty of the degree,” said Dr. Julia Chambers, Professor of Business and Management Coordinator. “We focus on the wide range of disciplines within the HR field. Students get exposure to nearly every area and can select electives that are of interest to them, which allows for more specialty.”

Depending on the student’s HR interests, there are a number of specialties that fall under the degree, including training and development, compensation, employee benefit administration, labor relations, international HRM, HR strategy and planning, and HR systems.

The BBA in Human Resource Management is a degree that will provide Bloomfield College students with the depth of knowledge and skills needed to be successful in any organization that values its most important resource - the employees.

With the area of Human Resources growing in importance and diversity every day, the College is very excited to announce this degree.
