Bloomfield College is pleased to announce Governor Phil Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy as Honorary Chairs for the Bloomfield College Sesquicentennial Gala to be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the Valley Regency at 6:30 p.m.

“We are honored that Bloomfield College has selected us as honorary chairs for the institution’s Sesquicentennial Gala,” said Governor Phil Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy. “For 150 years, Bloomfield College has helped prepare generations of New Jerseyans with a foundation for lifelong learning. We are proud to celebrate with this institution and are excited to work together to ensure that the next 150 years are better than the last.”

The Sesquicentennial Gala, a black-tie event that is sure to be the highlight of the College’s sesquicentennial year, will be the largest event in the College’s 150-year history and the ultimate fundraiser for student scholarship. It will be a special night for the College, an evening that brings together the entire extended Bloomfield College community and one that raises scholarship funds for students, majority of whom experience dire personal and financial hardships.

“In May at the College’s Commencement, we proudly presented Governor Murphy with an honorary degree. His words resonated with our graduating students. It is an honor to have both the Governor and First Lady as honorary chairs for the College’s 150th Gala,” said Richard A. Levao, Bloomfield College President.

Honorees the evening of December 1 include Jeh Johnson (hon.’12), former Secretary of Homeland Security, and prolific journalist Bill Whitaker of 60 Minutes and CBS News. These notable individuals will be receiving the Presidential Medal of Excellence, an honor bestowed upon only a few select individuals who best exemplify leadership, diversity, engagement, and the ideals of Bloomfield College.
