BCAA Hosts Student Meet & Greet Event

BCAA Meet & Greet Panel 2-22-22

The Bloomfield College Alumni Association (BCAA) hosted a well-attended Student Meet & Greet session on campus on the evening of February 22 to introduce current students to the new Alumni Board and Association members.

More than 40 Bloomfield College students attended the event held in the Black Box Studio in the College’s Center for Technology & Creativity. Students enjoyed light refreshments while engaging in networking exercises with their peers and Alumni Association members.

A Bloomfield College alumni and staff panel advised the students on the importance of developing their networking skills, while the event itself served as good practice. Panelists advised the students on how to identify networking opportunities and ways to broaden their circle. They also provided career guidance, and outlined how to chart and visualize an efficient path to graduation.

Additional alumni speakers shared personal stories about their college days and offered advice on how students can best prepare to be as successful as possible in their academic, personal and professional endeavors.

Panelists included: BCAA President Maurice Lyle ’09, BCAA Vice President Gage Daye ’12, Celeste Walden-Kelley ’16 and Matthew Stevens, Bloomfield College Mentoring Program Coordinator. Additional speakers included Patricia Guillaume ’07 and Cassandra Bien-Aime ’07.

The new BCAA Board was elected in December 2022, and is making ambitious plans for numerous initiatives. A newly defined focus is on strengthening alumni relationships with students by establishing new mentoring opportunities in collaboration with the Center for Academic Advising and Career Education (CAACE) to help students learn more about the varied career pathways that may be open to them within their majors.

The BCAA is grateful for the support it has received through newly developing partnerships with the CAACE and other campus departments that are helping to further its agenda of assisting students in ways that best prepare them for life after graduation.

Bloomfield College alumni interested in re-engagement with the College community are invited to become involved. To stay up to date with BCAA events, meetings, discussions and more, alumni are invited to join the BCAA’s newly launched private groups on Facebook and LinkedIn.
