The Bloomfield College Alumni Association honored four influential members of the institution's community on April 12, as the organization hosted the annual Spring Gala at Galloping Hill Country Club.
"The Spring Gala is always a wonderful evening, and I am so pleased to see how much the event has grown since its inception,” BCAA president and lead event sponsor John Delucca ’66 said. “This year we were able to hand out three awards to people who have done tremendous service for our institution and embody the spirit Bloomfield College, while helping to raise money for a scholarship fund that helps current students. An event like this is what the Alumni Association is all about, and we are so thankful to all the people who have made it such an overwhelming success."
Bloomfield trustee Nicholas Carlozzi and his wife Catherine were honored with the Trustee Service Award, the first of three honors bestowed on some of the institutional community’s finest members. Alumnus and longtime middle school principal Frank Corrado ’69 received the Alumni Hall of Honor Award, while Bloomfield men’s basketball guard and second all-time leading scorer Andre Dabney ’08 received the Athletic Hall of Fame Award.
Nearly 250 guests attended the inspirational evening, with all net proceeds from the festivities benefitting the Bloomfield College Alumni Association Scholarship fund. Scholarship recipients were in attendance to meet the alumni who have made a difference in their college lives and interact with the night’s lead sponsors, such as global insurer Liberty Mutual Insurance.
“Tonight shows what our community is capable of,” Bloomfield director of annual giving and alumni relations Janis Oolie said. “To see us all come together and raise money to help continue to provide scholarship opportunities for our students is truly inspiring. This is one of our best events of the year, and we would like to thank all of our sponsors who made it such a memorable evening.”
