Mission
The mission of Bloomfield College of Montclair State University as New Jersey’s only four-year Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) is to educate, enlighten, empower, and engage students to provide stewardship to communities, locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.
We do so by:
Enlightening students through a rigorous, interdisciplinary liberal arts education featuring community-engaged and collaborative learning that provides students opportunities to see the world through multiple worldviews;
Engaging students in curricular and co-curricular programs and experiences with the College’s distinctive identity as an urban-situated college environment committed to community engagement;
Cultivating an on-campus esprit de corps and sense of community that empowers students’ academic, social, and wellness growth that begins firmly rooted in the students’ collective histories and cultures.
Vision
Bloomfield College of Montclair State University will serve as a national model of a Predominantly Black Institution with 21st century personalized interdisciplinary and cutting-edge liberal arts education.
