Solar Eclipse Brings Campus Community Together on College Quad

An event like no other, the 2024 solar eclipse seen across the contiguous United States on Monday, April 8, brought excitement and cheers from onlookers across the country.
On the Bloomfield College of Montclair State University campus, scores of students, faculty and staff gathered on the College Quad to view the rare phenomenon that will only be seen again from the continental United States on August 23, 2044.
As the moon began to slip between the sun and Earth just after 2 p.m., Professor of Biology James Murphy, PhD, assisted the campus community in safely observing the eclipse through provided safety glasses, pin-hole cameras and projection equipment.
The celestial event made for a perfectly timed outdoor campus gathering just as the warmer spring weather made its debut.
