Bloomfield College of Montclair State University’s undergraduate program in Game Design has been ranked one of the Top 50 in The Princeton Review‘s “Top 50 Undergrad Schools for Game Design for 2025.”
Bloomfield College was ranked No. 2 in New Jersey, No.13 on the Northeast regional list and No.48 on the Top 50 undergraduate list.
The company posted the ranking list on its website on March 18th along with a companion list of “Top 25 Graduate Schools for Game Design for 2025.”
“The outstanding faculty and staff of our Creative Arts and Technology programs and, specifically, our Game Design program are experts in the field and provide our students with an exceptional academic experience,” says Bloomfield Dean Theodorea Regina Berry.
Schools were chosen for the 2025 lists based on The Princeton Review‘s 2024 survey of administrators at 150 institutions in the U.S. and abroad offering game design studies. The survey requested information in four areas: academics, faculty, technology, and career prospects. More than 40 survey data points were taken in account to determine the school selections and tally the rankings.

Students majoring in Game Design at Bloomfield build knowledge and hands-on skills that can lead to career opportunities in animation, game marketing, visual effects and creative game design.
Boasting the state-of-the-art Center for Technology and Creativity, Bloomfield provides students with cutting-edge resources to pursue their game ideas and career aspirations in a supportive and inclusive academic environment.
“To students considering a career in the exciting field of game design, we highly recommend Bloomfield College of Montclair State University along with the other outstanding schools that made our lists for 2025,” says Rob Franek, The Princeton Review’s editor-in-chief. “Their faculties are superb. Their facilities are state-of-the-art, and their alumni include many of the industry’s most successful game designers, developers, and entrepreneurs.”

The Princeton Review developed this ranking category in 2010 with guidance from a national advisory board the company formed to help design the project survey and methodology. Advisory board members included administrators and faculty from respected game design programs, and professionals from some of the top video game companies.
The Princeton Review also tallies annual rankings of colleges, law schools, and business schools in several categories as well as rankings of schools for entrepreneurship studies. The company reports non-ranked lists of the best schools offering online degree programs in education, library science, and nursing.
