Merger Completion Announcement

Dear Bloomfield College Faculty, Staff and Students,

It is with great excitement that I write to share that the merger of Bloomfield College and Montclair State University is now complete.

The two institutions have received all necessary approvals, and the official transaction became effective on July 1, 2023, allowing the creation of Bloomfield College of Montclair State University. This is the first merger between a public university and a private college in New Jersey. Together, Bloomfield and Montclair have made history!

On a personal note, I am delighted to share that I will continue at Bloomfield, serving in a new role as Chancellor, which will allow me to further advance the important work that I have been honored to be a part of since my arrival in June 2019. In this capacity, I will report to Dr. Jonathan GS Koppell, president of Montclair State University, and work very closely with him, members of the University leadership team, and my dedicated colleagues to ensure a smooth transition for our current and incoming students. In addition, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty Michael A. Palladino, Ph.D., will serve in the capacity of Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

I am most grateful for the steadfast support and incredible patience shown by our trustees, donors, faculty, staff, alumni and most importantly our students who are committed to our future as Bloomfield College of Montclair State University.
