Bloomfield College is chartered by the State of New Jersey and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The College’s accreditation status is Non-Compliance Probation. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on June 21, 2023 was to note that the complex substantive change request includes the merger of Bloomfield College with Montclair State University, effective June 30, 2023, the anticipated date of the transaction; to note that Montclair State University is the surviving institution. Bloomfield College’s accreditation will cease effective June 30, 2024, based on the Commission’s grant of a waiver of the Teach-Out Plan and Agreement(s) Policy and Procedure Section III.E.4.b. for up to one year following the date of the transaction in order to implement an approved teach-out plan, and to align with the United States Department of Education’s Updated Guidance and Procedures for Changes in Ownership, dated September 15, 2022. Bloomfield College will maintain an accreditation for the sole purpose of implementing the teach-out plan and agreements.
The College’s Statement of Accreditation Status is maintained on the MSCHE website.
