Richard A. Levao has served as President of Bloomfield College since June, 2003. Before coming to Bloomfield, he practiced law for 29 years and was a partner at the national law firm Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP.
Active in community affairs and New Jersey higher education, Levao has served 25 years as a member of the Rutgers University Board of Trustees and Board of Governors, including three years as Chair of the Board of Trustees (1991-1994) and two years as Chair of the Board of Governors (1998-2000). He has also served as an adjunct member of the faculties of The Cornell Law School, Rutgers University and Bloomfield College.
He currently serves as Chair of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, as Secretary of the New Jersey Presidents’ Council, and as a member of the Scholarship Selection Committee of the New Jersey Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. He has served on the New Jersey State Opera Board and the Mountainside Health Foundation Board. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation and the Executive Committees of the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and the New Jersey Council on the Humanities, the state’s affiliate to the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Mr. Levao received an A.B. with High Distinction in Political Science from Rutgers College. He earned a Juris Doctor with Specialization in International Affairs from The Cornell Law School. In 2000, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Rutgers University for his professional achievements and for his outstanding service to the institution; in 2006, an honorary doctorate from Universidad Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, in Peru; in 2009, an honorary doctorate from Universitate Transilvania din Brasov, in Romania; and in 2011, an honorary doctorate from Jeonju University, in Korea.
Prior to joining Bloomfield College in June 2012, Howard Buxbaum served as Vice President for Finance and Business Affairs at Drew University. From 2000 to 2007 he served as Vice President for Finance and Administration at New Jersey City University. Previous work experience include serving as Vice President for Finance and Administration at Bank Street College of Education; Executive Director of Administration and Planning and Associate Vice President for Resource Management at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
Prior to entering the higher education field, Mr. Buxbaum held several positions in New York State Government in the State Budget Division, Health Department, and the Council on Children and Families
His professional affiliations include the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools; Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers; and Society for College and University Planning.
His work in the community includes serving on the board of The Calais School for Special Needs Children; the Morristown Soup Kitchen and as a volunteer with the Interfaith Coalition for the Homeless.
Mr. Buxbaum has a B.A. degree in Economics from SUNY at New Paltz and an M.A. in Economics from SUNY at Binghamton and completed the Management and Leadership Program in Higher Education at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. He is also the author of several publications on business, management and finance.
As Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty, Dr. Terenzio oversees the operations of the Office of Academic Affairs, the Center of Academic Development, the Registrar and Advisement Office, the Center for Global Studies, the Library, The Center for Adult Learning, The Center for Teaching and Learning in Technology and the academic division of the college. As chief academic officer, her areas of responsibility include overseeing all academic programs and policies associated with academic progress and standards as well as all matters associated with faculty work at Bloomfield College.
Prior to her post at Bloomfield college, Dr. Terenzio served 26 years at The Sage Colleges in Troy, New York (Russell Sage College for Woman, Sage College of Albany, and Sage Graduate School) where she was the Vice President for Campus Life, and a professor in the Divisions of The Arts and Psychology. Dr. Terenzio first served the Sage Colleges as a teacher and scholar in music and psychology. During a 20 year faculty career, she led the development of the Creative Arts in Therapy program at Russell Sage College and also taught in the Community Psychology program offered by Sage Graduate School.
In 2001, she served as an ACE Fellow (American Council on Education), where she worked under the leadership of Jamienne Studley at Skidmore College. She has received numerous awards for her community work including the outstanding community service award from the Hudson Mohawk Association of Colleges and Universities and a vision leadership award from the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the outstanding faculty award at the Sage Colleges. She has served on many professional national, regional and state association boards including the Middle States Academic Council for the College Board, the Northamerican Association for Masters’ in Psychology (NAMP) board of directors, and the Advisory Board for the Muslim Majority Nation Task Force.
Dr. Terenzio received her Ph.D. in Ecological and Community Psychology from Michigan State University, a master’s degree in Music Therapy from Texas Women’s University, and a second master’s degree in Community Psychology from the Sage Graduate School of The Sage Colleges. She is an alumna of Vassar College, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Music.
Dr. Patrick Lamy grew up in Fordham, Bronx, New York, and has resided in Essex County, NJ since 1981. Dr. Lamy received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Biology from Caldwell College followed by a Master of Arts in Education and Human Services from Montclair State University and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Seton Hall University.
Over the past nineteen years at Bloomfield College, Dr. Lamy has held the following positions: Resident Director, Residence Life Coordinator, EOF Counselor/Tutorial Program Coordinator, Director of Residence Life, Assistant Dean, Associate Dean, Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Officer and most recently, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. What Dr. Lamy enjoys most about his employment at the College are his interactions with students, and the opportunities to collaborate with all sectors of the College Community to provide Bloomfield College students with an enriching and challenging educational experience.
Dr. Lamy is very active in the broader Essex County Community where he serves as mentor to several young men and women in high school and in college. He is a recognized member of Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities Professionals; American College Personnel Association; American Counseling Association; and the Association for the Study of Higher Education. He is a member of the Editorial Board for the Leadership Exchange Journal from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators; previous member of several conference planning committees for the American Association of Colleges and Universities and the New Jersey Association for Affirmative Action in Higher Education.
As Vice President Global Programs and Professional Studies, Peter Jeong oversees all aspects of Global Affairs and Professional Studies areas, including Global Partnerships, International Programs, International Students Recruitment Initiatives, Corporate Trainings, Continuing Education Programs, the American Language Center, and Advance Technology Institute.
Mr. Jeong has been affiliated with Bloomfield College since 1989, when he held the position of Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems. He was appointed to his current position as Vice President in July 1997. As Computer Scientist, He has done extensive research in database management, operating systems, data communications and networks, programming languages, and Internet technologies. He is a Cisco Certified Instructor and Regional Academy Instructor.
Since 2000, Mr. Jeong has developed the College’s international programs in countries like Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Mongolia, Romania, Peru, Egypt, and Brazil through the office of International Training and Professional Studies. He has provided global education outreach to international students and educators in conjunction with more than 230 colleges, universities, and government agencies in more than 30 countries. Under his leadership, the College is currently offering a variety of programs, from International teacher training programs to advanced technology courses at U.S. Corporations.
Mr. Jeong received a B.A. in English from Jeonju University, Korea; an M.A. in Linguistics from New York University; a M. Phil. in Linguistics from New York University. He studied Computational Linguistics in Ph.D. program at New York University. He completed the Management and Leadership Program in Higher Education at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. In 2005, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Universidad Inca Garcilaso de la Vega in Peru; in 2005 was made an honorary professor at Richardo Palma University in Peru; in 2006 an honorary doctorate of philosophy from Mongolia International University in Mongolia; and in 2006 was made an honorary professor at Universitate Transilvania din Brasov in Romania.
As Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Jacqueline Bartley-Oxley, JD oversees all aspects of the College's Office of Institutional Advancement, including Donor Relations, Alumni Relations, the Bloomfield College Fund and College Communications.
A seasoned fundraising professional, Bartley-Oxley has made a significant impact at several of New Jersey’s higher education institutions, including Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). The Middletown, N.J. resident comes to Bloomfield after a six-year stay at Monmouth University, where as Associate Vice President for Advancement, she played an integral role in a $20 million Capital Campaign to raise funding for the University’s new athletics facility, the Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC).
Prior to Monmouth, Bartley-Oxley held various positions during a seven-year tenure at Rutgers, culminating with a two-year stint as Associate Vice President for Major Gifts from 2006-2007. As Director of Development for the Rutgers College of Nursing from 2000-2003, she helped raise $5 million to help the division construct a state-of-the-art facility on the New Brunswick campus. Also a member of the Gift Planning Council of New Jersey (GPCNJ), Bartley-Oxley has previously served as the organization’s President, chairing and co-chairing several conferences during her tenure.
A graduate of the Seton Hall University School of Law, Bartley-Oxley earned an undergraduate degree in political science and philosophy from Boston College.
As Vice President for Enrollment Management, Adam Castro oversees the operations of the Offices of Admission, Marketing, and Student Financial Services. His areas of responsibility include development of recruitment, marketing, admission, and financial aid programs designed to recruit, admit and retain students at Bloomfield College. He has been at Bloomfield College since 2003 and has also served as Assistant Director of Admission, Associate Director of Admission, Director of Admission, and Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management during his tenure.
Mr. Castro is an active member of numerous organizations including the National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC), the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the ACT New Jersey State Council, NAFSA: Association for International Educators, and the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in New Jersey (AICUNJ).
Mr. Castro received his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Kean University and holds a B.A. degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the Rutgers University School of Communication and Library Studies.
As Vice President for Campus Planning and Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration, Bill McDonald provides the College with fiscal conservatism while exhibiting entrepreneurial skills in offering innovative and on-going financial creativity to improve the financial strength of the institution. He has made possible many enhancements to our campus, initiated changes in operation that resulted in cost reductions and, at the same time, improved services in vital areas of operation.
Since graduating from Bloomfield College in 1984, Mr. McDonald has developed a strong commitment to the institution along with integrity, honesty and experience. This has earned him the trust and respect from not only the College community, but the Township and other outside constituencies as well. His areas of responsibility include accounting, finance, budgeting, Student Financial Services, Physical Plant, Capital Improvements, Office of Information Technology and Services, Service Center, and the College Bookstore.
Mr. McDonald received his B.S. degree in Business Administration with Finance and Accounting Concentration from Bloomfield College, and received his Master’s degree in Management with an area of study in Human Resource Management from Thomas A. Edison State College.
