The Portraits of Excellence Program’s goal is to profile students for their superior achievements, which may include, but are not limited to: academic, leadership, employment and internships, community service and volunteerism.
Recognition will be awarded on the basis of distinguished service/volunteerism, major involvement in leadership, distinguished intellectual activity; or direct participation in activities reflective of the College's Mission: "to prepare students to attain academic, personal and professional excellence in a multicultural and global society."
Recognized students will be profiled in Student Center Room 1 with a Portrait highlighting their accomplishments. In addition, recognized students are entered as finalists for recognition as Distinguished Student of the Year at the Student Affairs Annual Awards Ceremony. A generous gift will be awarded to the selected Distinguished Student of the Year candidate.
Monthly selection of featured students will be based on the review of Nomination Forms from faculty, administration, staff, or representatives of organizations affiliated with a nominee's distinguished service/accomplishment.
Representatives of these constituent groups may nominate any current full or part-time matriculating student at the College. Nominations are accepted and reviewed by the Student Affairs Deans' Office between the 5th and the 25th day of October, November, February, March and April. Profiles of the students featured for the monthly Portraits of Excellence will be published on the College's Website on the 1st of November, December, March, April, and May.
The Nomination Form may be downloaded here, or may be retrieved at the Center for Student Leadership & Engagement, located in the Student Center at Talbott Hall on the Quad.
