Message from Director
Welcome to the Center for Global Studies! The Center includes Study Abroad, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), and the summer REACH programs.
If you are interested in studying in another country for a short-term program or longer for a semester, here are some of the study abroad opportunities to consider:
Bloomfield College is a member of CCIS (College Consortium of International Studies) and AIFS (American Institute for Foreign Study), which sponsor international study programs in over 30 different countries. In the past, students have studied for a semester in England, Italy, South Africa, Japan, and Argentina.
-
In addition, there are short term study programs for less than a semester. During the 2010 spring vacation, STEM students traveled to Lee Stocking Island in the Bahamas to study environmental ecology. In the summer 2010, students in the Robotics course will travel to Singapore for the Robocup competition and CAT Animation students will do a study tour in France attending the Animation Festival in Annecy.
Bloomfield College has two exchange programs through the Creative Arts and Technology program (CAT), one with Jeon Ju University in South Korea, and the other in England with the Arts University College at Bournemouth.
The CAT 222 Global Art History course in the spring focuses on the art of one country with travel to that country during the week-long spring break. Students have studied the art and architecture of France, Italy, and northern Spain. This spring, students traveled to southern Spain.
The Center for Global Studies will be glad to help you with applications, financial aid, and scholarship information.
For students whose primary language is not English, there are the EAP and Reach programs. We offer courses on three levels to help students improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills so they will succeed in their college level courses. Our classes are small so that students can benefit from the individualized attention and instruction. The Reach program is a six-week summer program for entering EAP I students.
We are here to assist you! Please feel free to stop by our office in Voorhees Hall with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Emy Kamihara
