On Thursday, May 19, Bloomfield College hosted its annual President’s Dinner at the Cedar Hill Country Club in Livingston. Many members of the Bloomfield College community, including current and former trustees, faculty, staff, students, and friends, attended this time honored tradition to celebrate the Commencement Ceremonies.

Following brief remarks from College President, Richard A. Levao, and Board of Trustees Chairman, William H. Turner, a student from each of the seven academic divisions spoke about the impact Bloomfield College made on their lives as well as their future plans.

“I applied for and was accepted into the Materials Science and Engineering PhD program at Stevens Institute of Technology,” said graduating senior, Faria Nusrat.

Many of the speeches touched on their personal stories and how Bloomfield College helped them achieve their dreams of earning a college degree.

“As a child, I moved around quite often, sometimes living in shelters. I grew up always having to look over my shoulder to stay safe and away from gang violence,” said Ashton Green.  “My main career goal is to become a professional cartoonist but I’ll be on campus counseling students in the EOF [Educational Opportunity Fund] program over the summer. It's my way of giving back to the institution that made a huge difference in my life. It enabled me to write my own story and become the person I am today.”

The evening, which consisted of a cocktail hour, dinner, enlightening conversation, and an amazing dessert buffet, clearly demonstrated what Bloomfield College is all about: celebrating its students’ successes.
