Bloomfield College honored some of its best and brightest academics on Oct. 12, as 131 students were recognized for their achievements in the classroom during the 2013-2014 academic year at the Dean’s List Awards Program in the Westminster Arts Center’s Van Fossan Theatre.

Published at the end of each semester, the Dean’s List is based on academic performance as measure by grades achieved during that semester. Students who are awarded “Honors” have achieved a Quality Grade-Point Average of 3.5 or better, while students who have achieved a GPA of 3.8 or higher earn the distinction of “High Honors”.

The scholarly audience was treated to remarks from Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Graduate Studies Dr. Carolyn Spies and a special student speaker during the presentation, with Dean’s List recipient and music technology major Francesca Columbo congratulating the group of undergrads on their outstanding achievements – and challenging them to strive for more.

“Today, take the time to appreciate yourself and what you've done so far, and realize that you have so much ahead of you,” she said as she concluded her speech. “Congratulate yourself on what may to some be a small victory, but to others is the greatest thing they’ve achieved so far. Most of all, in the time you have left in college and the rest of your life in the real world, regardless of whatever may come your way, never lose your fire to succeed.”
